Utilization of railroad ties
Context: the increasing amount of creosote impregnated railroad ties, which are being replaced by new ones each year, enlarge the total amount of these ties kept in storage. At the moment, vast majority of these ties are being utilized in special power plants. And yet this applied method is complex and expensive allowing to utilize a certain amount each year. One of the main goals of Lithuanian railways are ecology and sustainability therefore this utilization process has to be done in more environmental-friendly way.
Solution: a technology which would allow to utilize rail road ties in way larger amounts without any carbon footprint.
